Cash covets Betemit

The Yankees tried to acquire Wilson Betemit at last year’s trade deadline for Scott Proctor, and they are making the same attempt again this year.

But what is most interesting is how much the Yanks like Betemit. Last year, they tried to pry the switch-hitter from the Braves, who ultimately dealt him to the Dodgers on July 28 for Danys Baez and Willy Aybar. (Source)

I see why Cash has always liked Wilson Betetmit. He has put together two good half seasons. A 116 OPS+ halfway through last year and a 118 OPS+ this year. He walks a lot (28 BB, .351 OBP), can play multiple positions (3B, SS, 2B, OF) and has extra base power (18 extra base hits out of only 32 hits).

I love this trade.
